On 22 June 2026, from 9:00 to 12:00, researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders will gather at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Solvay Brussels School, Auditoire Olivier Lippens, Room R42-5-103) for a study session dedicated to repatriation policies and human rights.
The event comes at a pivotal moment for European migration policy, as the European Union prepares to adopt a new Return Regulation. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the potential implications of the proposed framework and reflect on its impact on migrants, frontline actors, and support organisations.
The programme will feature contributions from:
- Isabelle Carles and Victor Henneton (METICES, ULB), who will present lessons learned from the MORE project and its research on migration governance and return policies.
- Nina Muller (Coalition MOVE), who will share field experiences in providing socio-legal support to migrants in closed centres.
- Chiara Catelli (PICUM), who will discuss the proposed EU deportation regulation and its implications for affected individuals and organisations working on the ground.
The session will provide a space for informed dialogue between academia and practice, encouraging critical reflection on current developments in EU migration policy and their human rights dimensions.
Please note that the event will be conducted in French.
Individuals interested in attending are invited to confirm their participation by contacting Isabelle Carles at isabelle.carles@ulb.be.
We look forward to welcoming participants to this important discussion on the future of return policies in Europe.
