Olga Jubany and Sevda Tunaboylu, coordinators of the MORE project at the University of Barcelona, have recently published an article in Spanish examining the national case and the recast of the Returns Directive. The article questions the reliance on deportations as the primary response to administrative irregularity, highlighting that such measures not only worsen the situation of irregularised migrants but also face challenges from frontline enforcement agents, including police officers, judges, and prosecutors.
